Dr. Sinan Cakmak
Clinical Investigator
Experience
Dr. Sinan Cakmak is a physician in the Clinical Pharmacology Unit at CRS Mannheim, part of hVIVO. Born in Istanbul and educated in Germany, he completed his medical degree at Ruprecht Karls University Heidelberg in 2018 before undertaking over six years of clinical training at Ludwigshafen Hospital in internal medicine and cardiology.
During his time in hospital practice, Sinan gained broad experience across emergency medicine, chest pain and acute cardiac care, and intensive care medicine — including serving in the COVID‑19 ICU during the second and third waves of the pandemic. He later specialised in cardiac imaging, with a focus on cardiac CT and cardiac MRI.
Sinan earned his doctorate in 2022, studying inflammatory activity in abdominal aortic aneurysms, work that deepened his understanding of immunology and its interplay with cardiovascular disease. His scientific interests, combined with a desire to work at the intersection of cardiometabolic disease and early‑phase research, led him to transition into clinical research and join hVIVO under the leadership of Prof. Thomas Forst.
He brings a strong foundation in internal medicine, cardiology, and advanced cardiac imaging to the team, supporting high‑quality early‑phase studies in cardiometabolic and immunology‑related indications.
